The concept behind the Cowgirl Kitchen is simple: fresh food, casual and delicious - quick, friendly service - making it easy for you to come in for your favorite meal or get your food to go. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and food to go. Specialties include breakfast tacos, waffles, overstuffed sandwiches, salads, chips & dip, pizza, and sweets, along with casseroles, soups and spreads to go. The menu is ideal for a picnic on or off the beach or to take home to enjoy later. Cowgirl Kitchen has a beer and wine license so patrons can enjoy a unique selection of draft beer, wine, frozen margaritas, Bloody Mary's and more.
Behind the concept is resident Cowgirl, Nikki Nickerson. Nikki was born in Texas and raised in the South. After years of working on marketing small and big companies in corporate America, Nikki wanted to do something that was fun and creative on the beach! Looking into different beach communities to live, Nikki spent a weekend in Seaside in 2001 and was hooked on the quaint lifestyle and artistic community. It wasn’t long before she packed up everything from her Atlanta home and headed for paradise; keeping only her “must have” possessions: a wine collection, laptop, beach clothes, and two bicycles; one for the boardwalk and one for the road. Her first venture into beach living was through the start up of a Keller Williams real estate company in Seagrove Beach. Certainly a successful real estate company was enough to keep her busy but as a mildly obsessed wine and food lover, Nikki kept her antenna up for another creative avenue for her passions. In 2005, Nikki stumbled on to the Cowgirl Kitchen in Seagrove Beach, a charming little place in the heart of a historic beach town with a good fun western twang to it. Being a resident of the western end of Scenic 30A, Nikki wanted to relocate Cowgirl Kitchen to Rosemary Beach where she already spent most of her time with her real estate clients and friends. In 2007, Cowgirl Kitchen saddled up for a move to Rosemary Beach. The Rosemary Beach location attracted a talented and eclectic staff with quite an interesting history of job talent, from international chefs to teachers and ex-managers, everyone at the “kitchen” embraces the beach life and benefits of living simply at the beach. Expanding the menu and adding a bar made the new restaurant a popular choice for both vacationers and full time residents. Juggling both real estate and restaurant professions seems to be a fit for Nikki, as real estate clients become Cowgirl Kitchen customers and Cowgirl Kitchen customers become real estate clients. And as Nikki comments "everyone becomes friends!"
If you come by for a visit, you might run into Gracie, chief cowgirl and Nikki's beloved Labrador Retriever. Gracie keeps special organic dog treats for her friends and visitors and is often seen chasing waves on the beach. As for the future, Nikki would like to see a Cowgirl Kitchen in the mountains of Utah. Seems a fit in those parts and the new restaurant would give the staff a good excuse to ski more in the off months!! |
